Berliinis asuva rattapoe omanik leidis nutika lahenduse oma poele tähelepanu tõmbamiseks - ta kattis terve neljakorruselise maja esikülje jalgratastega. Kaunistustööks kulus 120 jalgratast.

Jalgratturite seas leviva impotentsuse vastu aitab nn. ninata-sadul.
I will not go into detail about why I visited the doctor last night, but after describing my symptoms and being the subject of a rigorous examination, his first question was, "Do you ride a bicycle?" When I said yes, everywhere, he gave me his prescription: "Get a new bicycle seat."

Kunstnikud Mark Grieve ja Ilana Spector tekitasid hiiglasliku, umbes 18-meetri kõrguse, jalgratastest valmistatud obeliski ühele Kalifornia osariigi Santa Rosa linna tänavanurgale.

Google investeeris Shweebi just äsja üle miljoni dollari.
Shweeb is an innovative integration of two existing technologies - the monorail and the recumbent bicycle.
Monorails travel safely above all other modes of land transport and leave the ground free for other uses. Since the 1960’s, small scale monorails have been advocated around the globe as the ideal urban transit system but have not prospered due to high infrastructure build costs. With the use of new technologies, interest in the next generation of small scale monorails (Personal Rapid Transport - PRT) has begun to resurge with the construction of a new, driverless system to replace bus transport at Heathrow Airport.
Recumbent cycles have made great advances in the last decade primarily due to improved comfort, greater efficiency, higher speeds and no carbon emissions. However, the low aerodynamic profile does create significant issues as they are too low to be clearly visible by other road users, their riders have poor visibility, and a modest side wind will destabilise and topple an velomobile. These issues have severely inhibited the adoption of HPVs in urban environments.
By combining the relative advantages of existing monorail technology with the aerodynamic efficiency of recumbent bicycles, Shweeb delivers a creative new solution. Personal, aerodynamic pods are suspended safely from a monorail, propelled by an innovative transmission powered by the rider’s own pedal power (or alternatively, electric assistance is available). The rider and their luggage are accommodated in a comfortable, recumbent seat with a 360 degree panoramic views.

CityRyde Inspire is the only software package that turns bike rides into cash by tracking, certifying and monetizing carbon offset credits from bike sharing systems worldwide. Inspire will also scale into other sustainable transportation verticals into the future...

An American bike from 1896. The frame made of bamboo. Exhibited in Prague's Technical Museum.
Olen isegi mõelnud miks need jalgrattakiivrid nii nõmedad välja näevad ja miks neid üldse kandma peaks ... paraku liigub ka Eesti selles suunas, et muuta kiivrite kandmine jalgratturitele kohustuslikuks.
Mikael Colville-Anderson is as entertaining in video as he is at Copenhagenize.com. He explains in this TED talk why he thinks bicycle helmets promote a culture of fear, that pedestrians and drivers have far higher rates of head injuries but nobody tells them to wear helmets, and that cycle helmets are a conspiracy by the auto makers to scare people off bikes and into cars.
Cyclists are killed primarily by cars and trucks, yet the common North American attitude, as espoused by Toronto's new mayor, is that they bring it upon themselves by being on the road. The helmet wars are a diversion from the real problem: Lousy bike infrastructure putting cyclists in the same space as lousy drivers who get away with murder.
50,000 Americans are shot every year, yet you don't see campaigns to put the entire population into bulletproof vests. You don't blame the victim. Why are cyclists any different?

Birmingham Small Arms Ltd is one of Great Britain’s best known manufacturers of bicycles, motorcycles and rifles. This Museum is a public database informing the company’s early history with examples of BSA bicycles from the turn of the century until the early 1950s, including military models from WW1 and WW2.
Bicycles were not accepted at first as suitable military mounts. The British military establishment was stuck in its ways. After much lobbying by the manufacturers, Cycling magazine and army officers, the Army Cyclist Corps was eventually formed, and the advantages of the cycle in warfare was proven.
